Supporting charities to improve people's quality of life and future prospects, both in the UK and internationally

Applying to the Apollo Foundation

We are open to receiving applications from any charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales that believes they meet our objectives and eligibility criteria.

All applications must be submitted on the Foundation’s application form, which can be downloaded using the link on this page. Applications submitted in any other format will not be considered.

Completed applications should be submitted by email to David.Burgess@ApolloFundraising.com before the deadline below.

Deadlines and next meeting

The Trustees meet four times a year, typically in March, June, September and December.

The next Trustee meeting is Tuesday 24th March 2026.

The deadline for applications wishing to be considered at this meeting is 4pm on Friday 13th February 2026.

All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by Friday 10th April 2026.

Getting advice on your application

We appreciate you might have questions, either about your eligibility or the suitability of your project. We offer a limited number of 15-minute advice surgeries with our Grants Officer, enabling you to discuss your proposal with us in advance. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and organisations are limited to one call per application, unless otherwise advised.

To book an advice surgery, please click the adjacent link to access our online booking system.

A note on completing our application form

The Apollo Foundation operates a one-stage process.

In developing our application form we have sought to keep it light-touch, without too many questions that are likely to be unique to our Foundation. It is our intention that both the questions and the format of the form will enable you to reuse answers or written material you have used in other places. As such, we are happy for you to cut-and-paste information from other sources, such as your website, your annual accounts, your impact report or other funding proposals.

As part of the application we ask for some information about the total cost of the work you’re applying for, how much has been raised to date, and your plans for securing the remaining funding. We appreciate that for some applications, such as for core costs or ongoing activity, it can be hard to know what to include. If you are unsure, please provide us with whatever information you think will help us to understand how our grant fits into your wider funding plan and to understand the likelihood of you being able to raise the funding needed for the project to go ahead as planned. If we are unsure or require further information we will ask you.

What happens next?

We receive many more proposals than we are able to fund – approximately 300 for every funding meeting.

Every eligible proposal is read by our Foundation Director and our Grants Officer. Together, they select a shortlist of approximately 30 to be considered by our Trustees at their next meeting. Of these, we are typically able to make grants to 10-14.

Whatever the outcome, we endeavour to inform all applicants as to the result of their application within one month of the Trustee meeting.

Good Luck!
We look forward to reading your application

Thanks for your interest in the Apollo Foundation…but I’m afraid this Foundation doesn’t actually exist!

This webpage forms part of Apollo Fundraising’s “Through A Funder’s Eyes” workshop, where we give fundraisers the chance to experience grant-fundraising from the funder’s perspective. The exercise is designed to help you see your own trust proposals, cultivation and research in a completely new light.

So, while the Apollo Fundraising can’t actually provide you with a grant for your work, perhaps it can help you to secure more grants from those funders that do exist.
