The “Nos” pile high in my inbox tonight
Not a grant cheque to be seen
Sent plenty of applications
But we haven’t had a bean

My boss is shouting and there’s nowhere I can hide
I can’t do much more, heaven knows I’ve tried!

I wrote it well, I let them see
All the good things we’d do with their money
The “why”, the need, all that I showed
But they said no!

Are ridiculously small
