Fundraising Health Check
Our Fundraising Health Check is an independent assessment of your fundraising activity. It’s designed to diagnose any underlying issues and risks in either your strategy or your implementation so you can move forward effectively, efficiently and with confidence.
Our Fundraising Health Check focuses on two key areas:
- Your Strategy – Does your fundraising strategy represent the most effective and efficient way to achieve your goals?
- Your Implementation – Do you have the resources, infrastructure, skills and internal processes required to turn your strategy into reality? Are there any barriers or blockages standing in your way?
Depending on your needs, our audit can either focus on your whole fundraising programme, or on specific elements (such as your individual giving programme or corporate partnerships).
Here’s how it works:
- Our standard Fundraising Health Check package provides you with four days of support, during which time we will research, review and report back.
- We’ll start by asking you to provide documents relating to the work you’d like us to audit. For example, this is likely to include budgets, strategy documents and future plans, relevant fundraising copy and supporting data related to key metrics (don’t worry if these documents don’t exist – we won’t ask you to create anything from scratch!)
- We’ll also spend a day with you and your team to gain a better understanding of your fundraising priorities, strategies and approaches. We’ll work with you to understand how and why you do things, what’s working and what isn’t.
- We’ll then review all of the information, seeking further clarification where required and, if appropriate, using desk-based research to benchmark against comparable organisations
- We’ll produce a Diagnostics report, identifying:
- what’s working well and should be protected
- what’s not working that needs to be stopped or fixed
- any foreseeable opportunities to expand or diversify
- any foreseeable risks or challenges that need to be mitigated
- The report will give you a clear sense of the priorities for moving forward

Investment
Our Fundraising Health Check starts at £2,450 (plus reasonable travel expenses). This is based on our standard package of five days to research, review and report.
However, we want to be sure our review does your work justice and provides you with reliable results on which you can confidently make decisions. If the nature of your work means it would benefit from longer than five days (perhaps because you have a large number of active fundraising propositions, or because you'd like us to complete a "deeper dive" into your fundraising) we will flag this at the start. We can then either agree which areas will be reviewed as part of the audit and, if you would like us to dedicate more time to your review, we can provide you with a quote.
Why Invest in a Fundraising Health Check?
As a result of this investment you will get:
- Clarity on which path you should be taking. This will mean less time spent deliberating which approaches to take, resulting in more time which can be spent building relationships with potential donors
- A clearer sense of where you should be prioritising, meaning your finite fundraising resources can be invested in the areas that will give you the best chance of success
- Early warning of barriers (things that impede your fundraising) and blockages (things that stop it all together) so that they can be quickly removed. This will free up staff time, maximising the return on your fundraising efforts, and ensure small problems don't escalate to a point they derail your fundraising
- An external perspective to identify new opportunities to diversify your income and/or maximising income that are within your reach
- Peace of mind, so that you and your organisation can move forward with confidence
