Fundraising Skills for Museums: Individual Giving

Thanks very much for attending our session on Individual Giving for museums. We hope you found the session useful and that it’s given you ideas, skills and confidence for raising more money from your visitors and communities.

To download the slides from the session, click on the image or button below.

You can also find links to other resources discussed during the session, including our guides to finding online donation platforms and contactless donation terminals, and some more information about the Gift Aid and VAT rules when it comes to membership schemes.

Other Resources:

During the session there was a question about Gift Aid and VAT in relation to membership schemes. This is a complex area and it’s always worth checking with HMRC and your accountant if you are unsure if your existing or proposed scheme is eligible for Gift Aid and/or if it’s likely you will need to charge VAT. The Art of Major Gift Fundraising

On Thursday 13th February (this Thursday), I’m running an online course on raising major gifts for arts and culture organisations. Where the session last week focused on fundraising from large groups of potential donors (such as from your visitors and local community), this course looks at the process of building individual relationships with those capable of making larger donations.

The course normally costs £95 to attend. However, as a recent participant in one of my training courses I’m pleased to be able to offer a limited number of half-price tickets for this session.

There are ten half-price tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis. To claim your discounted ticket, simply enter the code MDSE50 when booking.

Thanks for your interest in the Apollo Foundation…but I’m afraid this Foundation doesn’t actually exist!

This webpage forms part of Apollo Fundraising’s “Through A Funder’s Eyes” workshop, where we give fundraisers the chance to experience grant-fundraising from the funder’s perspective. The exercise is designed to help you see your own trust proposals, cultivation and research in a completely new light.

So, while the Apollo Fundraising can’t actually provide you with a grant for your work, perhaps it can help you to secure more grants from those funders that do exist.
